23-year old star says he is “proud” as report confirm Man Utd £57m offer

According to reports making the rounds in Italy, Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has admitted that he ‘heard from’ Manchester United this summer.

Skriniar, 23, only joined Inter last July but the highly-rated Slovakia international is already being linked with a big-money move away from the San Siro.

United are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements and Skriniar has emerged as a target for Jose Mourinho ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Reports earlier this month claimed that the Red Devils had even submitted a £57million offer for the defender at Mourinho’s request. However, the Slovakian has revealed that Inter chose to reject United’s approach.

Asked about United’s interest, Skriniar responded: ‘Manchester United? I heard from them and it made me proud.’ ‘But I’m even happier that Inter decided to reject it and that they believe so much in me.’
Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld and Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng are also understood to be on United’s radar. While Bayern are only demanding around £50m for Germany World Cup winner Boateng, Spurs have slapped a £75m price tag on Alderweireld.

Alderweireld’s future has been the subject of much debate in recent weeks, but the Belgian insisted that the rumours would not impact his performances at the World Cup.
‘I have no problem with that because I am 100% focused on Belgium. It’s a dream come true to play for Belgium at a World Cup,’ he said.

‘So I am focused on the World Cup, that’s all. There is nothing else on mind.’
