Agent confirm Chelsea to complete 1st signing as £35m star accept Blues offer

Sunday, July 1, 2018

According to reports making the rounds in Italy and England, Chelsea are set to make their first summer signing with a £35million move for Italy international Daniele Rugani.

Following their managerial uncertainty, the Blues are one of the few Premier League clubs who are yet to announce their first signing of the summer.

Current boss Antonio Conte is expected to be sacked before the World Cup, with Maurizio Sarri set to take over. And this has hugely hampered Chelsea’s attempts in the transfer market.

However, Chelsea seem to have made significant progress over a deal for Rugani, the Juventus defender, after upping their offer to around £35m in recent days.

Popular Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport report that Rugani has essentially accepted an offer from Chelsea, who are still finalising the details of the move with Juventus.

The London club will most likely wait until Conte is sacked to get the deal over the line, however, as it is claimed, incoming Chelsea, Sarri, has given the nod for the move for Rugani.

Rugani, who has seven caps for Italy, has impressed since signing for Juventus in 2013, winning three Serie A titles.

Sarri worked with the 23-year-old briefly at Empoli and is said to believe he can develop into a world-class centre-back.

On Thursday, Rugani’s agent responded to Chelsea’s interest in his client by saying:

‘It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first.

‘After that, we can proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.’
