Ajax have agreed on a club record £18.5 million to secure the defender from United. Blind. The 28-year-old was signed by former coach Louis van Gaal after his impressive performance at the 2014 World Cup. Blind was initially a first team player but has fallen down to a bit part player role since the arrival of Mourinho to United.

United renewed pursuit for a left back with interests in Danny Rose and Alex Sandro meant that Blind was surplus to requirements this summer. Ajax quickly swooped in to sign the utility player in a deal worth an initial £14 million with an additional £4.5 million add-ons. United have recouped the transfer fee paid for the player despite Blind having one year remaining on his contract.
Blind was used in several positions from central midfield to centre back to the left back position but never seemed to cement a particular position during his time at Old Trafford.
